Wollaton Hall
Deer Park, Nottingham
This picturesque Elizabethan Mansion house has got heaps of great features. To begin with, it’s a 16th century Grade I listed building, it’s set within 500 acres of parkland, and it offers eye-popping views of the local countryside. Inside, there’s a choice of locations for your big day, including The Great Hall with stunning stone and wood features, The Salon with elegant French windows, the top floor Prospect Room boasting amazing panoramic views, and the Camella House, situated within the formal gardens. But the icing on the cake? Well, this stunning building was in fact used as Wayne Manor in the Dark Knight trilogy. That right, if you book Wollaton Hall, you’ll be tying the knot in Batman’s house. How many couples can claim that?
The Pumping House
Newark, Nottinghamshire
Looking for a venue with more than a few glowing endorsements? Check out The Pumping House, a Grade II listen venue, which was recognised as Best Countryside Wedding Venue in the East Midlands 2019, as well as Highly Commended Countryside Wedding Venue in the East Midlands 2020 by the prestigious Wedding Industry awards. Located on a six-acre site in the heart of Sherwood Forest, you can choose between the two beautiful ceremony rooms, before moving guests to the sophisticated Oak Room, the picturesque Conservatory Room, or out onto the lawn itself. As well as a truly stunning location, there’s no neighbours to worry about, meaning you can party away with the venue’s 1am late license.
Trent Bridge
West Bridgford, Nottingham
Whether you’re both sports fans, or you’re just after somewhere a little unique, take a look at Trent Bridge, aka, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Since being established in 1841, Trent Bridge has seen a wealth of cricketing history, from international games, to the Twenty20 Cup. As well as basking in the historical ambience of the location, you’ll have a great range of locations. Cricket fans should head for the Long Room, which combines heaps of character with a plethora of cricketing memorabilia. For something more modern, check out the light and airy Derek Randall Suite, or for magnificent views of the grounds, head for the contemporary Boundary’s Edge. Howzat?
The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields
Beeston, Nottinghamshire
If you’re planning a summer wedding and want the ideal outside venue, then look no further than The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields. This Victorian garden with stunning Grand Marquee is set within 135 acres of parkland, for an intimate and secluded event. Steeped in history, the estate was established way back in 1837, and still boasts such original features as charming red brick walls, wooden gates, rusty iron works and grape vine greenhouse. Ceremonies take place under the old covered greenhouse, or can be moved to the marquee if the weather is temperamental. Round off your big day with a party at the permanent marquee, which oozes character thanks to Georgan bar windows, floor length drapes, chandeliers, candelabras, and of course, those unbeatable views.
